Developed by an alumnus of Newcastle College’s Level 5 Music Production & Engineering program, Otomiru (U.K. Patent Application GB26001067.8) is a real-time geometric acoustic physics modeller built natively in C++ via JUCE and Xcode.Unlike standard mixing software that relies on artificial panning or static filters, our DSP dynamically calculates the exact phase relationships, distance attenuation, and frequency-dependent boundary absorption across the floor, ceiling, and walls simultaneously. Traditional audio engineering education often suggests that simulating vertical height or deep distance can be achieved simply by attenuating high or low frequencies. As audio professionals, we found this superficial approximation fundamentally unsatisfying.
